Arg-e Bam ( The Bam citadel )
Arg-e Bam ( The Bam citadel ) still is the largest adobe building in the world . It is located on the ancient Silk road , in Bam county , Bam city in Kerman Province of southeastern Iran.A strategic Stronghold situated in a desert environment , was added to UNESCO’s World Heritage list in 2004. How ever , in December of 2003, a major earthquake in Bam destroyed the Arg and much of the surrounding city But reconstruction efforts are being funded by several countries. These days, the citadel is rubble compared to its previous stat, Hence it’s still impressive in size and a great story teller about the History of ages there.Bam citadel founded in Achaemenid Empire era in 5 centuries BC and was running for more than 2300 years .Passing many years after the earthquake , the reconstruction is still running and may be It will be finish in 2018 . Right after the earthquake many countries volunteered for reconstruction affords and now some of them are finished . Italian, French, German and Japanese archeologists were very active aside Iranian to rebuild this fabulous monuments.As Mr. Ebrahimi , The Universal Bam basement manager mentioned :” How ever , The Bam is not going to be the same like before earthquake was , But this earthquake was such a autopsy for archaeologists and revealed a lot of information about this legendary citadel. It was such alas for every Iran and silk road history fans , but increased our data of this historic site. ” ” Arg ” in Persian means castle and is a sort of fortified structure .
